Healthy Fats/Cell Membrane Health
Share
When it comes to good health, there are several things that must be done on a consistent basis: eat a healthy diet, get adequate rest and exercise daily. While these are all important, a fully functioning cell membrane is the key to maintaining that good health. This can be accomplished by consuming healthy fats.
What is the Cell Membrane?
The cell membrane (also called the plasma membrane) was first discovered in 1855 by Swiss botanist Carl Naegeli and C. Cramer. It is a thin, double layer of protection that surrounds the cell. Every single cell in all living things is surrounded by a cell membrane. The cell membrane is a buffer, allowing only certain particles and molecules to enter or exit the cell. (Oxygen and water can travel freely into the cell while carbon dioxide can freely exit the cell without restriction).
Cell Membrane Functions
In addition to preventing harmful substances from entering the cell, the cell membrane has two other important functions in the body:
- Powerful receptors within the cell membrane regulate both the internal and external movement of nutrients, waste, ions and metabolic products in the cell;
- Communicates with other cells, allowing them to work together in unison.
Cell Membrane Studies
Studies on the cell membrane cite its importance for good health:
Astaxanthin, a nutrient in the cell membrane, has been shown to reduce oxidative stress in smokers and overweight individuals. It has also shown to improve blood flow and slow age-related functional decline.1
Studies indicate chemical or functional changes in cell membranes play a key role in disease formulation. The following diseases have been linked to membrane-related health issues:
- Grave’s Disease
- Some forms of diabetes
- Obesity
- Multiple sclerosis
- Muscular dystrophy2
By studying cell membranes in cancer patients, doctors can determine “tumor status, dietary intakes, and cancer type or therapy.” In addition, the membrane lipid profile in red blood cells could determine the amount of omega-6 in cancer patients, as well as indicate desaturation activity, which is low blood oxygen concentration in cells.3
As researchers continue to study the impact cell membranes have on our health, it’s imperative people are proactive in keeping it strong. This is a key first line of defense for the body against harmful invaders.
Healthy Fats and Cell Membrane Health
Healthy fats can provide the following benefits:
- Give the body energy
- Absorb nutrients
- Insulate organs
- Support cellular growth
These fats include fatty acids such as cholesterol and triglycerides. The body needs these fats, but too much of these fats can increase the risk of various health issues, such as clogged arteries and strokes.
While some fats (monounsaturated fat and polyunsaturated fat) are essential for good health, other fats (such as saturated fat and trans fat) can increase the risk of disease. Here is a chart listing popular healthy fat foods and bad fat foods:
Good Fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated) |
Bad Fats (saturated fat and trans fat) |
Avocado |
Processed meats (sausage, pepperoni, lunch meat, etc.) |
Butter and cheese (organic) |
Margarine (artificial butter spreads, non-dairy creamers) |
Extra virgin coconut & olive oil |
Potato chips, crackers, microwave popcorn |
Fatty fish (salmon, wild fish, sardines) |
Fried foods |
Nuts (walnuts, macadamia, cashews) |
Candy |
Beef (grass-fed) |
Biscuits, danishes, sweet rolls |
Seeds (chia, pumpkin, sunflower) |
Frozen dinners |
Eggs |
Cooking oils (safflower, corn, canola, cottonseed, processed vegetable) |
Studies on saturated fats report how it affects the cell membrane as well: higher saturated fatty acid composition of cell membranes increased the risk for hyperinsulinemia, a higher than normal insulin level in the blood that’s associated with type 2 diabetes.4
Cell Membrane Products
In addition to eating healthy foods with good fat and avoiding foods loaded with bad fats, there are many high-quality supplements available.
These following supplements are designed to regenerate and strengthen the cell membrane:
Systemic Formulas: #883 - VISTA 2 Capsules - MEMBRANE REGENERATION
Systemic Formulas: #883 - VISTA 2 Capsules - MEMBRANE REGENERATION is specifically designed to strengthen the body at the cellular level. Designed to provide essential nutrients to cell membranes, this product yields the following benefits:
- Eliminate cell degeneration
- Stimulate cell membrane health and metabolic activities
- Improve brain health
- Increase cellular energy production
Core Cellular Package
The Core Cellular Package includes the following products: VISTA 1 & 2, GCEL, eNRG, MoRs, ROX, and BIND. It is specifically designed to assist with several important aspects of cellular health, including the usage of antioxidants, reducing inflammation, chromosome repair, detoxification and repairing chromosomes.
CytoDetox® Liposomal Zeolite Clinoptilolite with Fulvates
A key component of cellular health and protecting the cellular membrane is detoxification. This allows the body to remove harmful pesticides, chemicals, and biotoxins at the cellular level. Once removed, the cell and cell membrane can begin to regenerate and strengthen itself from within.
CytoDetox® Liposomal Zeolite Clinoptilolite with Fulvates consists of a comprehensive detox system that goes well beyond the colon and liver, allowing it to detoxify every cell in the body. This product also contains Molecular Clinoptilolite Fragments, a type of zeolite derived from fossilized volcanic ash and sweater. Zeolites are widely known as “nature’s detoxifier.“
Summary
True healing and overall good health start at the cellular level. Instead of simply focusing on symptoms, it’s critical a person get to the root cause of what ails them. Many times, the source of their health issues is located at the cellular level. In addition to eating foods high in good fat and avoiding those high in saturated fat, supplements that strengthen the cell membrane are excellent ways to improve health, as well as decrease the risk (and susceptibility) to disease.
By making cellular health a top priority, a person is one step closer to achieving the good health they desire. Make the health of your cell membrane a top priority. Your body will thank you.
